I found Sun Palace very much like the other two Chinese places i've eaten at. Reasonably clean, priced, and the food was good...with lots of variety. Apparently they've improved considerably in the last year.

Obviously the person who commented about the Sun Palace Chinese Restaurant being typical and boring does not know what good chinese food is. I have been eating chinese food for about 21 years and I know that this restaurant has the best chinese food buffet in Harlingen. Stop hating!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WE LOOKED FORWARD TO THE OPENING OF THE NEW SUN PALACE IN HARLINGEN, AND ATE THERE AT 7 SATURDAY NIGHT. THE FOOD WAS WAY BELOW AVERAGE. THE MENU A REPEAT OF THE 7 OTHER CHINESE BUFFETS WITHIN 5 MILES, EXCEPT THAT IT OFFERED LESS VARIETY AND MUCH LOWER QUALITY AND SERVICE AT A HIGHER THAN AVERAGE PRICE. BUFFET ITEMS OUT OF STOCK FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR. WAIT STAFF AND MANAGER COMMUNICATED POORLY, REPEATEDLY, MADE EXCUSES, NEVER DELIVERED. DISTRESSING THAT WAIT STAFF HAD LONG POORLY SECURED HAIR, AS WELL AS A KITCHEN WORKER BRINGING OUT FOOD WITH HAIR STICKING OUT, BUSHY, SOILED AND IN ALL DIRECTIONS, FROM BENEATH HIS YELLOW CAP. STUFFED CRAB RAW AND COLD IN CENTER. BEEF TOUGH, NOTHING SEEMED FRESH. WE SHALL NOT RETURN.
